River Sister Live

  • The Railpenny Tavern 8 Exeter Road Epping, NH, 03042 (map)

River Sister is an indie-folk band from NH featuring lustrous vocal harmonies and elaborate jazz rhythms.

"Vocal harmonies that’ll make you blush with a rhythm section that adds a moving, colorful crush,” commented EDGE magazine when listing River Sister in one of its best-of-the-year lists. Vocalists Stefanie Guzikowski and Elissa Margolin deliver a sultry, silky blend alongside the addictive grooves of bassist Nate Therrien and drummer PJ Donahue. Indeed, the regional press notes, “the combination of these pieces makes for a fresh, cathartic addition to the indie-folk cannon.”

Recently nominated for a Spotlight award for best folk group, River Sister has opened NPR tiny desk favorite My Bubba, Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies headliner Emel Mathlouthi, and kicked off the National Concert to End Gun Violence. They can be found in their hometown of Portsmouth, New Hampshire at venues like 3S Artspace, Portsmouth Book and Bar, and the Music Hall, plus nearby venues in Boston, Manchester, and Portland delivering heart-filled, joyous and inspiring performances.

River Sister was a featured act on WMUR's Summer Songfest series. Their single, River Breeze, was included in the film Merrimack: River at Risk, and featured on NH PBS. In addition, their first single, "Season of Freedom," has over 5700 streams on Spotify.
